If we raise $40,000 by December 31, 2012 a generous donor will match it!

A Message from Kevin Smith, President and Chair, CFI Canada Board of Directors

Dear Freethinkers,

When I joined 5 years ago, CFI Canada was a small organization. With limited resources but passionate volunteers, CFI branched out across Canada. CFI’s latest addition to our family of freethinking individuals joined us December 6, when CFI Kamloops became our eleventh branch.

As with any young organization, CFI has had growing pains, but we have survived. We are entering a period where we are not only surviving, we are going to thrive.

This is in large part due to our incredible volunteers who work hard promoting the organization. The recent Eschaton 2012 conference is an example of CFI’s dynamic optimism. On November 30 to December 2, 2012, CFI Ottawa welcomed over 150 speakers and guests who gathered “to celebrate reason at the end of the world.”

This year we have accomplished many things.

We may not be as big as the Catholic Church, but we fought them head to head on allowing gay straight alliances in Ontario's publicly funded Catholic schools, and we won.

We were recognized by one of Canada’s most successful class action law firms to provide scientific advice on a $25 million lawsuit against homeopathic giant Boiron and Shoppers Drug Mart for marketing homeopathic remedies as an alternative to science based medicines.

Our new website, designed by an award winning graphics team, is set to launch in the next few weeks. It will operate as a multi-level platform, incorporating content, social media and videos.

CFI has big plans for 2013, and it needs your generous financial support to continue its work. I can promise you a reward for your generosity. CFI will be your voice of reason: we will fight for your values every day, and we will go further, making even more positive changes in every region of Canada.

Today is the Day!

It is fitting that this message comes to you on December 21, the day the Mayan calendar will go to the next b'ak'tun (cycle), because like this calendar, CFI Canada is set to move forward. Today is the day - to support CFI Canada’s next cycle of achievements.

Best wishes for a Happy Solstice from the CFI Canada Board of Directors.
